Victorian elder and NATSIHEC Executive Committee member Carolyn Briggs has been honoured in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List with an AM, a Member of the Order of Australia, for her service to Indigenous culture, specifically, making it her life mission to preserve her native Boonwurrung language.
A champion for Indigenous culture for over 5 decades and in 2016, Aunty Carolyn founded the Boon Wurrung Foundation which has been working to preserve her native language as well as help connect dozens of Indigenous youth to their heritage.
